Payment Options and Pricing:
Modern Family Dentists is committed to providing everyone with quality dentistry at an affordable price. We can bill ALL PPO dental benefit plans, including but not limited to: WEA, Delta Dental, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Aetna, United Concordia, United Healthcare, and Guardian. Many smaller insurance plans are a part of these networks.
As a courtesy to you we can explain your insurance benefits, determine what your insurance coverage, file claims, track your insurance dollars and help to maximize your insurance benefits.
BE ADVISED: Most dental insurance plans are a business agreement between an insurance company and your employer. It is important to remember that reimbursement and benefit levels are based on your carrier and what your employer has decided to include. One insurance company can easily have over 30,000 different plans.
Most dental plans are set up to pay only a portion of your dental health expenses. It’s not real insurance, but rather a discount to help you with services. The same $1,000 benefit has been around since 1975 and is worth an equivalent of about $138 in todays dollars. Or in other words if insurance kept up with inflation, like everything else, your benefit should be about $7,600.
Many dental plans exclude coverage for certain treatments, such as cosmetic services. They also have age limitations for treatments like sealants. However in many cases the full price of a non-covered service is less than the copay of the next service level up, so it isn’t logical to let your body fall apart in order to chase an insurance dollar that has to be matched by your own out of pocket expense. But…..we always go over all this to great detail before we ever begin.
The one way medical insurance and dental plans are very similar however is that they will sometimes decline to offer coverage for pre-existing conditions, such as missing teeth. This means if you signed up for implant coverage and your plan is like this then you are out of luck because this type of plan would not cover dental implants.
Many insurance companies will apply “alternate benefits” toward a service, such as paying for silver fillings rather than tooth-colored fillings, so 80% coverage all of a sudden becomes 60% coverage. We know, we know…….but don’t shoot the messenger, it’s your plan to blame. The insurance company is an invisible 3rd party trying to call the shots and trying to matin a massive profit margin. Our front desk has to report this coverage to you so it’s easy to see them as the a representative of the insurance company denying you benefits. We are hear for you not them. Most of our patients are out of pocket patients because our value is obvious from the first visit.
Some dental plans may use the terms “usual, customary, and reasonable” (UCR) to determine insurance benefits. This term applies to fee research methods used by dental carriers to set reimbursement levels across the country. The data or criteria upon which this research is based (such as region, time intervals, type of dentist, etc.) can vary greatly from one insurance carrier to another.
More and more Americans are now skipping the insurance all together. For those without dental insurance, we have the Modern Family Dentists Dental Benefit Program. Enrollment in this program saves you 30-50% off average dental fees in the Kenosha area. The plan pays for itself with just one New Patient visit to our office, and covers the price for a full exam and x-rays in full. The plan is for individuals and families- the more people on the plan- the more you save! Membership for one person starts at $277 annually. $1000 in services included and enrollment is simple! Plus it gives you 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% off services. Making our patients that pay out of pocket come out ahead vs paying and using insurance. We can’t say we are the only, but we are one of the only that charges our cash patients less than our insurance patients. It is because of our discount plan. We employee one staff full time to argue with insurance companies for payment, but we don’t make our self pay patients carry that burden, with is not the case in most offices. We are one of the few dental clinics where self pay patients can do comprehensive dentistry at a price they can afford. The self pay patients that fix their mouth, and remain in our re-care program make very little investment year after year maintaining their great smile.
At Modern Family Dentists, we accept all major debit and credit cards as a form of payment as well as CareCredit, cash, checks, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA). We also offer flexible payment plans, including some zero interest options.
Care Credit lets you begin your treatment immediately — then pay for it over time with low monthly payments that fit easily into your monthly budget. In our search box search Care Credit to begin your application, or go to carecredit.com to begin.
