From eating whatever you want to a smile you can be proud of, dental implants are an investment in your future
Do you have a tooth missing that you’d like to have replaced? Or maybe more than one? Here at Modern Family Dentists LLC, we understand how one or more missing teeth can make you feel. There are most likely more opportunities that you’ve missed out on because of your missing teeth than you care to admit.
It doesn’t matter how your teeth went missing. Whether you’ve learned over time to not smile because of your teeth, or you’re missing out on your favorite foods, missing teeth can affect your life in ways most people can’t understand. We get that. Over the years we’ve dealt with a whole range of clients, each with their own story about how their teeth have affected them. What does matter is that you can have a healthy smile again.
It’s amazing how much your life can change after undergoing a tooth replacement procedure. As one of our satisfied patients have said:
“It’s weird showing my teeth because I never used to show them before.”
How do we help people feel like this?
Thankfully, there are a number of treatment options we offer that can give you a healthy looking smile again. From removable dentures to semi-permanent implants, we can provide the treatment option that suits both your needs and your budget.
Let’s take a look at dental implants and how they work. These are without a doubt the most effective tooth replacement option. Sure, they cost a little more in the short term, but if looked after properly, they will never need to be replaced and can last you a lifetime.
What are dental implants?
In comparison to traditional dentures, dental implants are a more permanent option. Instead of being a set of teeth that can be removed for cleaning, dental implants are replacement teeth that are implanted into your jawbone. They don’t move, and before long you won’t even know that they’re there. In short, they’re the next best thing to natural teeth.
When you arrange to have dental implants, we construct replication teeth to match your existing teeth. These are attached to the implant – a screw-like object which is implanted into your jawbone.
A typical procedure involves replacing one or two teeth, but any number of teeth can be replaced, providing a healthy and natural looking smile.
Can all teeth be replaced?
The simple answer is yes, but it’s not quite as simple as that. While your entire set of teeth could technically be replaced, there are many factors that could affect that possibility.
If, for example, you were missing every single one of your teeth, your jawbone would have deteriorated over time. This can make it much more difficult (but not impossible) to place the implants. Your jawbone would have to be reconstructed over time to make it strong enough to take the implants. Once this procedure has been completed, your teeth can begin to be replaced.
When the procedure is finished and you have fully healed, it is like having all of your natural teeth again. You are free to eat any food you like, smile naturally and care for your replacement teeth exactly as you would with your natural teeth.
How can dental implants improve my life?
When you have dental implants, your whole life can change. Oral hygiene becomes easier than ever – you are free to brush and floss exactly as you do with your existing natural teeth. There is no worry of them falling out, because your replacement teeth are implanted into your jawbone. They cannot move, so you are free to participate in any activity without the constant worry of your teeth clicking, moving, or falling out. Perhaps you’ve been unable to eat certain foods – not so with dental implants. You’re able to eat anything you want, as long as you care for your implants as you would your natural teeth. And, a natural-looking smile can improve your confidence, which in turn can open up a lot of opportunities that might not have been previously available.
