Crowns

Aug 13, 2017

Dr. Aust at Modern Family Dentists LLC has announced that their practice is now making dental crowns in-house. Using CEREC Dentistry, Dr. Aust and his care team can provide you with a dental crown that is almost indistinguishable from your natural tooth. Crowns have a variety of benefits, which include restoration of functionality, restoration of aesthetics (looks), and to cover an implant or to attach a bridge. Normally, in order to attach a crown, the tooth is filed down to fit the crown over the top, and then an impression of the tooth is taken. The impression is used to create the crown. Dr. Aust can work with you to determine the shade and shape of your crown that will give you the most functional and aesthetically pleasing results.

Dr. Aust has an advantage because he can make crowns in-office, an advantage he passes on to you. This means you can leave with all the necessary work completed. Instead of waiting for your crown to be completed off-site, meaning you would need a temporary one, all the steps can be completed before you walk out the door.

If you have cracked or discolored teeth, or are in need of a root canal, a custom crown is a great option for you. Crowns are very durable, meaning they can and often do last a lifetime. Porcelain is particularly durable when used in dental procedures. However, crowns can be made of other materials such as gold, depending upon your needs. If your crown will be visible while you are smiling, porcelain is strongly recommended.

After a crown has been placed, a patient should avoid eating hard or crunchy foods, or ice. These foods can damage the newly placed crown and cause it to crack or move out of place. If you are in need of a crown due to a cracked, chipped, or discolored tooth, feel free to call or email our office today.
